Stephanie Rice likes to party

Australian Olympic gold medalist swimmer Stephanie Rice is disappointed about some photos of her that leaked to the internet this week. The photos were taken at a nightclub during her vacation in Thailand. Rice says a man at the club asked for a photo with her, and continued to take photos throughout the night. She says she felt his behavior was "out of line." She also says she's disappointed about the public reaction to the photos because she's acting normal for someone her age.

The rumors come just weeks after the Rodriguez divorce settlement, and the same day that Madonna's divorce from director Guy Ritchie was announced by her publicist. ARE THE YANKEE'S DEAD?

As the baseball season starts to dwindle down to September every game start's to count for the New York Yankees. This is a criucial month for the Yanks as they have found themselves on the outside looking in, in the AL East. It has not been a magical run and the Yanks have had alot of key injuries to their team this season which has distracted them from the game and has made ownership stop believeing in them. When ownership has a negative attiitude towards the team it is very hard for the team to focus on the Fundamentals needed to put a winning team on the field. With eight all-stars and a 210 million dollar payroll it is very hard to beleive that the Yankee's are having a dismal year. When you have power hitters on an offense that can produce runs at any given time in a game, players like Jeter, Giambi, A-Rod, Pudge and even Melky have to lead the team. This year these big name players have not been able to produce and show their true colors and this is why the Yanks are struggling to gain ground in a competitve American League East Race. In my opinion it is to late for me to believe that the Yankees have any hope left of trying to make the Playoffs this year. The Rays have been playing outstanding baseball even without their two most important players Crawford and Longoria. Thier pitching has been solid with Kazmir leading the way and their offense is young and powerful. The Rays have alot of rookies on the team that have established thmeselves and made names for themsleves this year. The leadership of Joe Madden has been great and this team is fun to watch. They are not going to give up and I beleive they are going to win the division and march all the waty into the ALCS to face the Angels where they woll lose in seven games. The Boston Redsox have solid pitching and have been putting a great offenseive fight as of late and are very tough to beat at Fenway. I think the Redsox are going to be the wildcard team this year, but I dont think they are going to have enough to go all the way to the World Series. Dont forget Manny is not their anymore and cant provide that big hit when they need it most. Yankee Fans just remember you have one of the best teams in baseball and it's sad to say that this year the Bronx will not be hosting a playoff game, instead A Rod and Jeter will be palying Golf and resting up for next season. Watch out because the RAYS are knocking on your door. IS ANYBODY ALIVE OUT THERE!!!!

ARE THE YANKEES REALLY DEAD?

Sweet 16 without sweet tooth for Linlin of China

Legendary USA gymnastics coach Bela Karolyi has repeatedly called foul on the Chinese for allegedly allowing gymnasts under the regulation age of 16 to compete in the Olympics. He cites Deng Linlin's missing tooth (see photo above) among other discrepancies. China's team coach, Lu Shanzhen, did not offer an explanation for the missing tooth. Karolyi, who is orginally from Romania, also remarked that falsifying documents is a common practice in totalitarian regimes like China. In China, gymnasts are taken from their families at the age of 3 to train in gymnastics. They get to see their families once a year. The average height and weight of the Chinese girls is 4'9" and 77 pounds, with the tallest girl at just 5' even. The lightest Chinese team member is just 68 pounds. The average height and weight of the American girls is 5'1/2" and 106.5 pounds, with 4 of the 6 girls over 5' tall. Thus making the American team 3 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier than their competitors. Younger gymnasts are smaller and able to flip easier and are usually more limber. They are also free of the injuries that older gymnasts have acquired. The controversy continues to cast a dark cloud over the team gold medal the Chinese girls won Wednesday afternoon in Beijing.

Barkley to bounce balls at capitol?

Artur Davis, an incumbent congressman from Birmingham, Alabama, has someone in mind to be his successor, should he choose to run for governor in 2010. The candidate? None other than Charles Barkley. Reporters caught up with him early Tuesday morning, when he said the following:

"I've heard Charles' name mentioned as someone who might have an interest. I know he has a home in Leeds now and he could buy a flat in Birmingham inside the district but that really doesn't really matter. I know he's someone who has a real interest in the state, in wanting to see it move forward."

When asked if Barkley would be the tallest or largest member of congress, Davis remarked, "Both," with a smile.

Rampage's hit-and-run reveals new victim

Former UFC champ Quinton "Rampage" Jackson's wild hit-and-run from last month has taken a tragic turn. Holli Griggs was 16 weeks pregnant and "perfectly healthy" when Rampage sideswiped her Cadillac Escalade on July 15th. After the accident however, Griggs lost a lot of fluid from her womb and has now suffered a miscarriage. Griggs and her fiance Bill Krebs have hired an attorney, but have yet to take legal action.

Rodman can't steer clear of trouble

A little over a month after pleading guilty to spousal battery, Dennis Rodman's Mercedes S600 has been impounded. An unidentified female was driving the car in West Hollywood when she was pulled over. The registration had not been paid in a year and a half. A rep for Rodman has stated that Rodman thought his business manager had paid the registration, and that he is ready to fix things.

Pierce handles basketball better than car

Recent NBA champ Paul Pierce was pulled over at 3:30 am on Sunday morning in Las Vegas after making an illegal lane change (without signaling) and for driving erratically. Though he registered on the breathalyzer, he did not hit .08, which would have rendered him legally drunk and landed him a DUI charge. Maybe he should stick to bouncing and dunking and lay off the drinking and driving!

Jessica Simpson gets a head start on ruining another Cowboys' season

Forget about the break-up rumors. Apparently Jessica Simpson has her sights set on invading the Cowboys' pre-season training camp in Oxnard, CA. Her father, Joe Simpson, was spotted at an afternoon workout this past Sunday. Jessica wasn't with him, but he said that she would be there "soon." He also remarked, "She's coming to the games this year, so you better get ready. She's a fan from the beginning to the end."

TRADE DEADLINE

Today folks was the Trade Deadline in major league baseball. We saw some shocking trades take place and the most shocking trade to me was that Manny Ramirez is now a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Manny who over the last month or so, was acting up and trying to cause trouble within the Redsox organization finally got what he wanted and that was to be traded. As much as Manny has been a cry baby and always wanted his way, he was a key bat in the Redsox lineup. Manny brought power, speed and energy to the game and he is going to be missed in a REDSOX uniform. The Redsox now welcome in Jason Bay who has come over to Boston from the Pirates. He will add power to the lineup, but he is not Manny Ramirez. REDSOX FANS get ready because the loss of Manny brings alot of challenges along the way for the rest of the season. Lets just hope the Sox have what it takes to win the division and the Yanks will be the Wildcard.

The Yankee's today did what the Yankee's do best. They went out, spent money and provided some more talent to a team that right now has eight all-stars and a 210 million dollar payroll. With the addition of Nady, Marte and Ivan Rodriquez the Yankees have made themselves a power house yet again. When is Brian Cashmen and the Yankee Organization going to realize that they have not been to a world series in SEVEN YEARS. Cashman will do anything to put a winning team on the field but ask yourself this question has it worked! The answer to that is no it has not. But I am afraid to say that the New York Yankees has established themselves as one of the premier teams in the Major League Baseball and for that they are recognized as twenty - six time World Series Champions. After this day the Yankees will make the playoffs.

The Mets did not make any moves at the trade dead line and to Jerry Manual it's no big deal. As we have heard from the Mets media, fans and internet sources we know the Mets are in need of a everyday outfielder and why was nothing done. I thought this afternoon that Minaya was going to pull sometihng out of his hat and bring Manny Ramirez to the Big Apple. This was not the case though. The Mets were also questioned about their bullpen this week and if u were to ask me who they were gonna get i would have told you they have the best five relievers in the league. Who were they going to get FUENTES from the Rockies, I dont think so!!!

Ken Griffey Junior has not been to playoffs his entire career now it is his time to shine as he was welcomed earlier today into the Windy City. The Chicago WhiteSox made a big statement today by picking up Griffey now we have to see if he has what it takes to lead the Whitesox into the postseason.

For More information on the trade deadline tune into the Sportsbuzz tonight at 10 pm on 91.9 FM or online at WNTI.org and dont forget their is never a busy signal and we dont cut you off after 40 seconds. Give us a call and tell us what's on your mind at 908-852-4545
